Questions About the HP RI04 Battery

How do I replace the battery on my HP ProBook 450 G3?

Turn off your laptop, unplug the charger, slide the release latches on the base outward, and pull the old battery from its bay. Slide the new RI04 battery into place until both latches click securely.

What is the typical battery backup duration for this battery?

Depending on screen brightness and software workload, the 44Wh 4-cell capacity provides between 2.5 and 4 hours of standard office typing and web browsing.

Is this battery an internal ribbon battery or an external clip-in pack?

The RI04 is an external clip-in battery pack that locks onto the rear underside of the laptop chassis, allowing quick tool-free swapping.

How should I initialize the new battery upon first use?

Charge the newly installed battery to 100 percent before initial portable use, then let it discharge naturally to roughly 15 percent before plugging in the adapter.

Can this battery replace model numbers HSTNN-DB7B and 805294-001?

Yes. Those represent HP factory part numbers for the same 14.8V 44Wh RI04 battery form factor used on ProBook G3 models.
