Why Tecno is a safe pick on a payment plan

Tecno was founded in 2006 and is part of Transsion, alongside Infinix and itel. It has been in Kenya for years, so spare parts, screen protectors, and covers are easy to find. The phones run HiOS on Android and are tuned for dark skin tones in photos, which is why the Camon line is popular for selfies and events.

On a payment plan that matters: you are paying for a year, so you want a phone that is easy to repair and easy to sell on later.

How Tecno Lipa Pole Pole works

Each Tecno shows only the plans that apply to it. Across this collection you will see:

• Plan 1, Low Deposit Daily: bring a Kenyan ID and an active Safaricom line, pay a small deposit, take the phone, then pay a small amount every day for 12 months.
• Plan 2, Fixed Term Daily: a Kenyan ID and a 20% deposit, then daily payments over 6, 9, or 12 months. A shorter term means a bigger daily amount but less in total.
• Plan 3, Flexible Monthly: a Kenyan ID and a bigger first payment (50% to 90% of the price), then monthly payments for 1 to 6 months. It suits someone paid once a month.

Every plan needs an active Safaricom line, because approval is based on your M-Pesa statement. On a daily or weekly plan you can add up the amounts and pay the whole month at once. If you fall behind, the phone locks until you catch up, then it unlocks and you carry on. You can clear the balance early, and paying early lowers what you pay in total.

Some people know it as lipa mdogo mdogo, others as lipa mos mos, lipa later, or buy now pay later. On a Tecno it is one thing: a deposit, then the small payments in the table.

What to check before you pick a Tecno

• Camera: if photos matter, go Camon. The Camon 50 and 50 Pro have a Sony 50MP main with OIS; the 50 Pro and 50 Ultra add the 3x telephoto.
• Battery: the Spark 50 has the biggest cell here at 6,700mAh. The Pop phones have 5,000mAh but charge slowly at 15W.
• 5G: the Camon 50 Ultra and Pova Curve are the 5G phones. The rest are 4G.
• Thin or tough: the Spark Slim is the thinnest; the Spark 50 Pro has IP68 if you work outside.

Tecno prices and deposits

The Tecno price in Kenya on each phone is the cash price for that storage. The deposit and the daily or monthly amount are in the table on the same page, so you can weigh a Spark against a Camon before you visit.
