Detailed Description of the Tecno Camon 40

Display & Outdoor Visibility: 6.78-inch 120Hz Full HD+ AMOLED

The screen is a 6.78-inch AMOLED at 1080 x 2436, about 393 pixels per inch, running at 120Hz. That is Full HD+, so WhatsApp, maps, and camera preview look sharper than the HD+ LCD on the Spark 40. Blacks stay black in a dim room. The Camon 40 Pro also runs 120Hz on the Kenya sheet, but that Pro panel is curved; this Camon 40 is flat enough that a normal glass protector sits without a halo fight.

Independent sheets list Panda King glass on this 4G Camon, not Gorilla Glass 7i. Outdoor brightness is typical modern AMOLED; leave auto brightness on at a midday stage. The phone is about 7.34mm thick on Tecno's published sheet, a little thicker than the Spark 40 Pro+. Colours are Galaxy Black, Emerald Glow Green, Glacier White, Emerald Lake Green, and Sandy Titanium. We will open the colour you want in the shop.

Processor & Storage: Helio G100 Ultimate, 8GB + 128GB or 256GB

The Kenyan Camon 40 uses the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate on 6nm, with two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.2GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz, and a Mali-G57 MC2 graphics unit. Everyday apps, the OIS camera pipeline, and light games stay comfortable. It is a 4G chip. The Kenya Camon 40 Pro uses the same Helio G100 Ultimate family; do not mix this phone with the global Camon 40 Pro 5G when you read foreign reviews.

We stock 8GB of physical RAM with 128GB or 256GB. Tecno writes this as 16GB with 8GB extended; the real RAM is 8GB, which is enough to keep the camera, WhatsApp, and a browser open. Take 256GB if you keep 50MP stills and 1080p clips. The official spec sheet does not list a dedicated memory-card slot, so treat the storage you buy as what you live with.

Camera System: 50MP OIS Main, 8MP Ultra-wide and 32MP Selfie

This is why people pick a Camon over a Spark. The main camera is a 50MP sensor on a 1/1.56-inch module with optical image stabilisation and a dual-LED flash. OIS moves the lens so night shots and walking video stay cleaner than the EIS-only Spark 40 Pro+. Next to it is a real 8MP ultra-wide for groups and rooms, plus a flicker sensor. Those are two working rear cameras, not dummy rings. Some shop titles still say 108MP; the official Tecno sheet for this model is 50MP plus 8MP.

The front camera is 32MP. The Kenya Camon 40 Pro uses a 50MP autofocus selfie, which is one reason people step up. Rear video on this 4G Camon is listed without a 4K promise on the public spec card, so treat 1080p as the safe figure. Daylight portraits and the OIS main are the strength. Night is good for the class, not a V70 ZEISS telephoto. FlashSnap sits on the side button if you want a fast camera wake.

Battery & Charging: 5,200mAh with 45W Super Charge

The Kenyan Camon 40 has a 5,200mAh battery and 45W Super Charge. Tecno talks about long cycle life on this cell. A work day of 4G, WhatsApp, and some video leaves charge in the evening. It is the same milliamp figure as the Camon 40 Pro; you are not buying a bigger tank when you step to the Pro, you are buying the 50MP autofocus selfie, IP68, and Gorilla Glass 7i.

GSMArena lists about 50 percent in 23 minutes and a full charge in about 43 minutes on this 45W 5,200mAh family. Use the brick in the box if you want that fill. There is no wireless pad on the Camon 40; that party trick lives on the Spark 40 Pro+. Reverse wired charging is not the headline here. Charge overnight if you skip the 45W cube and use a slow stall charger.

Kenyan Network Connectivity, Audio & Software

It takes two nano SIM cards and works on 4G with Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom. It is not a 5G phone. The official spec card does not list eSIM. You get NFC, an infrared remote, FM radio, USB-C with OTG, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The fingerprint reader sits under the screen. If tap-to-pay matters, we can show NFC on the unit before you pay.

Dual speakers with Dolby Atmos are tuned for video and music. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack on this Camon; use USB-C or Bluetooth earphones. It ships with Android 15. Independent sheets list up to three major Android upgrades and HiOS 15. The public spec card does not print an IP68 badge the way the Camon 40 Pro page does, so do not treat this 4G Camon as a swim phone. Ella, call translation, and Circle to Search sit in the software if you want them.

Buyer Guidance: What It Is Not & Alternatives

Know what it is not. It is not the Camon 40 Pro and it is not the Camon 50 Pro. There is no 5G, no wireless charging, no memory-card slot, and no headphone jack. The ultra-wide is 8MP, not a third 50MP sensor. The chip is a Helio G100 Ultimate, the same 4G family as the Kenya Camon 40 Pro.

The Tecno Camon 40 price in Kenya is for the 8GB+128GB or 8GB+256GB 4G phone we stock. Step to the Camon 40 Pro if you want the 50MP autofocus selfie, IP68, and Gorilla Glass 7i on 256GB. If you want a Sony main plus a real 3x telephoto on the later Camon, look at the Camon 50 Pro.
