Detailed Description of the iPhone 17 Pro Max

Display & Outdoor Visibility: 6.9-inch 120Hz Super Retina XDR

The screen is a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED at 2868 x 1320, which is 460 pixels per inch. That is the large Pro Max size, not the 6.3-inch Pro. ProMotion adapts the refresh rate up to 120Hz, there is an Always-On display, Dynamic Island, HDR, True Tone, and a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Typical brightness is 1,000 nits, HDR peaks at 1,600 nits, and outdoor peak brightness is 3,000 nits, the highest Apple quotes on an iPhone.

Ceramic Shield 2 covers the front, with a coating Apple says is three times more scratch resistant than the previous Ceramic Shield, plus an anti-reflective layer. The back also uses Ceramic Shield, which Apple rates four times more crack resistant than the old back glass. The glass is flat enough for a normal Pro Max protector. The phone is 163.4 mm tall, 78.0 mm wide, 8.75 mm thick, and 233 grams, so it is a two-hand phone for most people.

Processor & Storage: A19 Pro, 256GB to 2TB, no card slot

The chip is the A19 Pro: a 6-core CPU (two performance, four efficiency), a 6-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, a 16-core Neural Engine, and hardware ray tracing. Apple built a vapour chamber into the aluminium unibody so the chip can hold speed in long games and 4K video. Apple Intelligence features that need on-device power run on this chip. We do not quote a RAM figure because Apple does not list one on the Kenya spec sheet.

We stock 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. There is no memory card slot, so pick storage you will keep. 256GB is enough for WhatsApp, photos, and a few offline shows. Take 512GB or 1TB if you shoot a lot of 4K Dolby Vision or ProRes. 2TB is the Pro Max-only ceiling for people who keep libraries on the phone. Camera System: Three 48MP Fusion Cameras & 18MP Center Stage

All three rear cameras are 48MP Fusion sensors, not dummy lenses. The Fusion Main is 24 mm, f/1.78, with second-generation sensor-shift optical stabilisation, and it also gives a 12MP 2x crop at 48 mm. The Fusion Ultra Wide is 13 mm, f/2.2, 120 degrees, and can shoot 48MP stills and macros. The Fusion Telephoto is a tetraprism 100 mm 4x (f/2.8) that also gives 8x optical-quality zoom at 200 mm, for a 16x optical-quality range and digital zoom up to 40x.

The front camera is an 18MP Center Stage camera with autofocus. It can reframe a group selfie and record Dual Capture, so you keep the rear scene and your face in the same clip. Rear video includes 4K Dolby Vision up to 120fps on the main camera, Cinematic mode, Action mode, ProRes and ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock if you work with external gear. Night mode, Photographic Styles, and spatial photos are built in. There is no separate depth dummy; portraits come from the Fusion sensors and software.

Battery & Charging: 39-hour video rating, 40W USB-C, no wall brick

Apple rates the Pro Max at up to 39 hours of video playback and up to 35 hours of streamed video, and says that is the longest iPhone battery life they have published, about four hours more than iPhone 15 Pro Max on a full charge. Apple does not print a milliamp-hour number on the Kenya spec sheet. A mixed Nairobi day of calls, Maps, camera, and WhatsApp should end with charge left if you start full.

Fast charge is up to 50 percent in about 20 minutes with a 40W or higher USB-C adapter and the USB-C cable, or about 50 percent in 30 minutes on a 30W or higher MagSafe charger. Apple sells the adapter separately; the box has the phone and a USB-C cable, not a wall charger. The connector is USB-C. There is no 3.5mm jack. MagSafe and Qi2-style wireless charging work with the matching puck.

Kenyan Network Connectivity, Audio & Software

It is a 5G iPhone and works on Safaricom 5G where the network is live, then 4G on Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, NFC, and the Apple N1 wireless chip are on the spec sheet.
