Detailed Description of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

Display & Outdoor Visibility: 6.9-inch 120Hz QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X

The screen is a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X at 1440 x 3088, which is QHD+ at a very high pixel density. The edges curve. The refresh rate goes up to 120Hz, so scrolling WhatsApp and Chrome feels closer to a modern Samsung than the 60Hz Note 20. Gorilla Glass Victus covers the front.

Samsung rated peak brightness high for 2020. The panel stays readable outdoors if you raise the slider. Because these are renewed units, look for burn-in on the status bar and keyboard, and check that the curved edges are not chipped before you pay.

Processor & Storage: Exynos 990 or Snapdragon 865+, 128GB

Samsung sold two chips. Many African and European units used the Exynos 990. Some other regions got the Snapdragon 865 Plus. These are renewed phones, so we open About phone with you. Both chips are 2020 flagship silicon: they still run the camera and everyday apps, but they run warmer than today's phones.

The weekly plan on this page is for the 128GB Excellent grade, which is the spec we list from the renewed financier. There is no memory card slot. RAM is typically 12GB on the Ultra. If you need more storage, ask us what 256GB units we have in cash.

Camera System: 108MP Main, 12MP 5x Periscope & 12MP Ultra-wide

The rear cameras are three real sensors. The 108MP main with optical stabilisation is the daylight workhorse. The 12MP periscope gives about 5x optical zoom, which is the lens you use for a sign across the street. The 12MP ultra-wide is for rooms and groups. The front camera is 10MP.

Video goes to 8K on the main camera and 4K on the others. The S Pen lives in a silo. Confirm it is in the phone and that it writes on the screen. The current listing photo has a GSMArena watermark; we describe the phone from Samsung's spec, not from that watermarked composite.

Battery & Charging: 4,500mAh and 45W

The battery is 4,500mAh. That is larger than the Note 20 and smaller than today's 5,000mAh Ultras. Battery health on a refurbished phone varies, so ask us to show the health reading on the unit you pick.

Samsung rated wired charging at 25W in some regions and 45W in others. A USB-C charger fills it in about an hour. The original box often shipped without a wall charger, and a renewed pack may or may not include one.

Kenyan Network Connectivity, Audio & Software

It is a 5G phone. Safaricom 5G works where the network is live, and it falls back to 4G on Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom. Most units take two nano SIM cards. Check the tray. There is no headphone jack. Stereo speakers sit at the bottom and in the earpiece.

The phone launched on Android 10. Samsung promised three major Android upgrades, which took most units to Android 13. Do not buy a 2020 Ultra expecting another big Android version. DeX still works on a monitor.
