Design

The JBL Flip 5 measures 7.1 x 2.9 x 2.7-inch, meaning that it is marginally bigger than the 6.9 x 2.75 x 2.7-inch Flip 4. JBL Flip 5 comes in 12 different colors menacing you can choose a color that reflects your personality. The Flip 5 has a few controls on the device including buttons for volume, play/pause, and Party Boost to link to another JBL speaker. It also features a power button, Bluetooth pairing button, and a USB-C port for charging. An LED strip shows the battery level. The Flip 5 does not have an auxiliary as was the case with the previous Flip models. Instead, it is equipped with wireless connectivity. Another incredible feature about this flip5 design is that it is waterproof. The Bluetooth speaker features a waterproof rating and can be submerged up to 3 feet in the water.

Performance

The JBL Flip 5 has a very impressive sound quality with deep bass and rich quality sound.  When compared to its predecessor, the JBL Flip 5 has more bass and spreads the sound slightly wider. It is also much louder than its former. This speaker features a greater (20-watt) power output and a newly engineered, racetrack-shaped 44mm driver with an increased cone area for greater sonic amplification. This speaker is equipped with Bluetooth 4.2 that provides faster data speeds and a staggering wireless range of up to 240m.

Portability

The JBL Flip 5 is incredibly portable, thanks to its compact and lightweight design. The speaker is also equipped with a strap that allows you to can carry it around with ease.  The fact that it uses a rechargeable battery, means you can carry it with you wherever you go.

Battery life

JBL says you can play the Flip 5 for up to 12 hours when on a full charge. Additionally, the JBL Flip 5 has an improved speed of charging. A full charge, which offers 12 hours of playback, takes an hour less than 2.5 rather than 3.5 hours as is the case with its former.
