The Kenya spec lists a 6.74-inch LCD at 1600 × 720, about 260 pixels per inch. That is HD+, so small captions are a little soft next to a Full HD phone, but WhatsApp and YouTube look clean at reading distance. The refresh rate goes up to 120Hz on supported apps, which is quicker scrolling than the 90Hz panels on older budget vivos.

High-brightness mode is 1,200 nits on the Kenya sheet, so maps stay readable at a stage if auto brightness is on. There is a TÜV Rheinland low-blue-light mode. A film is already on the glass and a case is in the Kenya box. The panel is LCD, not AMOLED, so blacks look grey in a dark room.

Processor & Storage: Unisoc T7225, 4GB + 64GB or 128GB

The official Kenya chip is the Unisoc T7225, a 12nm octa-core with two 1.8GHz cores and six 1.8GHz cores. That is a 4G Unisoc, not a Helio and not a Snapdragon. Calls, WhatsApp, M-Pesa, and YouTube run. Light games are fine; PUBG and similar titles need low settings and will reload when 4GB of RAM fills up.

We stock 4GB of LPDDR4X with 64GB or 128GB of eMMC 5.1. Take 128GB if the phone will hold family photos, because 64GB fills once WhatsApp and a few apps land. Software can add another 4GB of extended RAM. The tray holds two nano SIMs and a microSD card at the same time, up to 2TB on the Kenya sheet, so you never trade the second line for extra space.

Camera System: 8MP Rear and 5MP Selfie

There is one rear camera: 8MP at f/2.0. The Kenya sheet does not list a second sensor or a 0.08MP helper, so this is a true single-camera phone. Daylight WhatsApp photos are usable. Night, Portrait, Documents, and Pro sit in the app. There is no ultra-wide and no optical stabilisation, so night shots need a steady hand and stay soft.

The 5MP selfie camera at f/2.2 is fine for a video call and a quick photo. It is the weakest part of the phone in a dim kitchen. A single rear flash is listed. Video recording is listed as MP4; vivo does not print 4K on the Kenya sheet. This is a daily phone that can send a status, not a camera phone.

Battery & Charging: 6,500mAh with 15W in the Box

The Kenyan Y05 uses a 6,500mAh typical BlueVolt cell (6,355mAh rated). That is a bigger cell than the 5,000mAh pack on the Y03, and it is the same size as the Y11d's cell. A normal day of calls and WhatsApp ends with battery left if you are not gaming for hours. vivo also quotes a 5-year battery-health story on this chemistry.

The Kenya box has a vivo charger that supports 15W, a USB-C cable, a case, and a fitted film. 15W is the slow brick in this Y group; the Y11d on the same battery uses 44W. vivo does not print an empty-to-full minute figure on the Kenya Y05 sheet, so that time stays off this page. Charge it overnight or while you work. Reverse charging is mentioned on the marketing page. There is no wireless charging.

Kenyan Network Connectivity, Audio & Software

It is 4G only. The Kenya spec lists LTE including B28 and writes 5G as a slash. Two nano SIMs plus a microSD card, dual standby, no eSIM. Wi-Fi is dual-band, Bluetooth is 5.2, NFC is not supported, and FM radio is supported, which helps when data runs out. An infrared blaster is on the sensor list for an old TV.

The Kenya spec does not list a headphone jack, so we do not promise one. Unlock is a side fingerprint reader. It ships with Android 16 and OriginOS 6.0. There is no gyroscope named on the Kenya list. Marketing talks about 200% volume and an audio booster; that is a louder earpiece and speaker, not a stereo pair like the Y31d.

Know what it is not. It is IP65, so dust and jets of water from any direction in the lab are the limit, not a swim, and liquid damage stays outside the warranty. The camera is 8MP. Charging is 15W.
